I had the opportunity to take my event design skills to a corporate level when I was asked to design a regional meeting event. The event was a two day meeting with a team gathering in Indianapolis from all over the country, most of them had never been here. In an effort to help them feel welcome, my client wanted to do an "Indiana" themed event allowing her team to learn all about Indiana...history, fun facts, and all those little details that make you feel like you grew up right here in the "Crossroads of America":)

My client wanted an event that was more on the professional side than on the cute side seeing as this was a corporate regional meeting. In order to keep with this request, I went with clean lines and simple colors. I incorporated Indiana facts and trivia whereever I could. Pictured above is the "welcome" display....as opposed to just listing some of the factoids, I included "live" items and posted the trivia on them. In case you're wondering, Red Gold Tomatoes, Wonder Bread, Orville Redenbacher popcorn, and Van Camps Pork and Beans all started here in our wonderful state. The creator of Raggedy Ann was a Hoosier. (You might as well learn something while you're here!)
The conference room became the "Corporate" Conference with allowed guests to learn some famous corporate headquarters that are based out of Indiana.
A "Collegiate" Concessions Corner was set up in the conference room for the team to enjoy while they spent their long days in meetings. I listed some factoids about area colleges and designed the snacks around the colleges. The waters were wrapped in more Indiana trivia, each one had a different fact!
I set up the night before the meeting started so I didn't get great shots of the lunch room. I covered the backdrop with a map of Indianapolis and then made creative displays with more facts. The creative food names incorporated more random trivia, while the cups had stickers allowing guests to learn the good 'ol basics like the state flag, flower, tree, etc.
This design steered away from my cute, whimsy parties I am used to, but I loved it. In the process of the design, I learned so much about my home state that I never knew. There's definitely more than corn in Indiana:)
